The Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC) serves as an independent, objective internal resource responsible for coordinating and monitoring ethics, compliance, and enterprise risk activities at UC San Diego and UC San Diego Health. OEC supports UC San Diego in fulfilling its responsibilities to the people of California, protecting the well-being of the University, and advancing our educational mission by deterring misconduct and promoting honest, ethical conduct that observes all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
The Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer (CECO) oversees the Office of Ethics & Compliance. The CECO has the independent authority and autonomy necessary to provide objective review and evaluation of compliance issues within all levels and in all subdivisions, subsidiaries and holdings of UC San Diego.
OEC reports to the Chancellor and provides senior management with a cross-functional emerging view of risks, leading to more informed strategic decisions, better allocation of resources and stronger governance practices.
